Thank God… you don’t know how much I need tonight’s game. I need it so badly and we’re only through five this year.

I am, of course, referring to an eastern time zone game! (I will say I’m disappointed by the 8 p.m. start… really wanted that sweet, sweet 7 p.m. puck drop.)

It’s been a rough start to the year for your guy here based in New Hampshire. West Coast swing to start, followed by the laaaaaaate start vs. Chicago and then the Hurricanes game on Saturday. Dater covered that one because I was at a wedding.

I watched the game on my phone at my table at the reception… and then on the dance floor. I think I made it to the end, but it got a bit hazy. I was certainly in no shape to cover that one… which sucks, because from what I remember of it and then the highlights, it seemed like a blast.

On to tonight’s game ON Long Island (they don’t like you to say in  Long Island).

This is going to be more stats-based than analysis. I love stats and think that you can find some great info by digging around and making numbers work for you.

Game 6
Colorado Avalanche (5-0-0) at New York Islanders (2-1-1)
UBS Arena – Elmont, New York
8:08 PM ET (6:08PM MT)

GAME NOTES

  • The 1972 Miami Dolphins are once again watching the Avs tonight, hoping they don’t take another step to challenging their record of an unbeaten regular season and playoff run (friggin’ Giants!). Colorado, Boston and that group from Las Vegas that doesn’t believe in the salary cap remain the only unbeaten teams left.
