I have started and erased this lead three times already.
I thought about starting with a comment about the days of Alexandar Georgiev feeling so far in the past that they were hard to remember. Then I thought about writing about the familiar feeling of the top guys bailing out a less-than-stellar night from the goaltender. I moved on to writing about the depth and how it needs to chip in more regularly. I then thought about building on Dater’s “clickbait” article from yesterday and a reaction to ‘the trade’ in the wake of Martin Necas’ late-game winner.
But you know what? No.
Not every game has to tell a story or be part of the bigger picture. Not every goal needs to be examined through the lens of winners and losers. Not every performance needs to be scrutinized for what it may or may not have contributed to a long-term outlook.
