See you Sunday. That was what I was thinking very early on in tonight’s Game 6 with Seattle. For me - and for many avid Avs watchers I’m sure - I could tell early on this team brought its work boots and was going to have a successful night.
Final score from Climate Pledge Arena: Avalanche 4, Seattle Kraken 1.
Game 7 is Sunday night at 7:30 mountain time. I predict another Avs win and a second-round date with the Dallas Stars.
The biggest thing I liked about the Avs tonight: they supported the puck everywhere. They just outnumbered Seattle all night around the puck and were relentless particularly in the corners in the offensive zone.
I really liked the way the Avs skated the puck out of their own zone too, especially in the final 30 minutes of the game.
Yeah, there was some frustration at first, when a great Bo Byram goal was taken off the board because it was determined Evan Rodrigues was offside. Then, the Kraken got the first goal for the sixth straight time in the series.
But that Mikko Rantanen goal in the final minute of the first really gave a huge boost to the team and, really, they just dominated Seattle the rest of the way.
I thought Cale Makar (21 Corsi events for, 9 against) was great after his one-game sitdown. I also thought Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon were great in all areas.
