Avs Force Game 7 With Gritty, Grinding Win at Home
Colorado and Dallas Saturday night in a Game 7
Not. Done. Yet.
It didn’t always feel like that would be the lead tonight. Well it did at the start, but by the middle? It certainly didn’t feel like the Avalanche would be getting on a plane and heading to Dallas for a Game 7 on Saturday.
But here we are.
Colorado — on the wrong side of a pair of blown second-intermission leads already in this series — flipped the script in Game 6. Down 4–3 after 40 minutes, they stormed back to win. A pair of empty-net goals in the final 90 seconds inflated the final score, but make no mistake: this was a tight one. The box score will read 7–4 Avalanche, and that’s all history will care about.
For those who endured — not watched — this game, it’s one they won’t soon forget. If the Avs can ride this momentum into Dallas and finally exorcise the demons of that city, that franchise, and the curse of Game 7s, this night, this game becomes stuff of lore.
