Series Tied, 1-1
The Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars head back to the Mile High City tied at one game apiece. That’s because Collin Blackwell scored the game-winning goal with just 134 seconds left in overtime, lifting Dallas to a Game 2 win and evening the series.
It was a thrilling game — both teams held leads, both teams played with an edge. But for the boys in Burgundy and Blue, it ended with a Victory Green result deep in the heart of Texas.
This one could’ve gone either way. But it didn’t.
Here’s what happened, with instant analysis from Monday’s Game 2:
First off: Gabe Landeskog didn’t play… and that’s fine. Honestly, I liked it. He suited up for warmups — and that’s the first real “welcome back” moment. He’s out there in an Avalanche uniform again, and there’s a ‘C’ on the ice. That’s what matters for now. But starting Miles Wood on the road? Much smarter, right? Let Landy ease into it. Let a healthier guy handle the bad road ice and hostile environment. Save the return for home ice, where Ball Arena will absolutely explode when he takes that first shift. The emotional momentum alone might be good for an early lead.
At least that’s what I thought of Miles Wood during the pregame.
