Avs Contradicting Themselves With Actions Surrounding Goaltending Situation
A disastrous first week in all phases for Avs
This was a baffling week for Avalanche fans, starting with the news that, somehow, KSE’s Altitude broadcasting enterprise couldn’t get its shit together in time to get its streaming product (Altitude+) to market yet. After a splashy announcement that their low, low price of $19.99 a month spiffy new streaming app (make that payable to E. Stanley Kroenke, please) would be forthcoming, presumably starting with last night’s home-opener, customers instead got nothing more than an apology letter from Altitude.
We also got the exciting news that the Avs have a jersey sponsor! And that the sponsor is…an insurance/financial instruments company. Nothing quite brings out feelings of team pride like big insurance, am I right? Right up there with Win One for the Gipper, I say. Those IMA patches just bring a tear to the eye as a cause to play for, don’t they? If the Avs were going to wear a patch for an insurance company, couldn’t they have at least signed with Geicko to get that cute little frog on it?
Maybe most baffling of all, though: Jared Bednar last night telling media, after he got yanked early for the second time in as many games to start the season, that Alexandar Georgiev is “our guy, he’s our starter” in goal, and that he has “full faith” in him moving forward.
He’s “our guy?” Well, why then did you go out and claim a journeyman veteran goalie off waivers just a couple of days before? Nothing expresses confidence in a guy like getting a third goalie for the roster.
