Avs Close Out Regular Season by Beating "Oilers"
Colorado finishes on high note, now turns the page to Winnipeg.
It’s over. Well… kind of.
The regular season is over and now the real season begins. Hopefully, this group can duplicate the same type turn-it-on-after-being-turned-off mentality that the 2022 group had in the final stretch of that campaign that saw them lose six-of-seven to close out the regular season.
After a pair of terrible losses in two different ways last weekend, the Avalanche closed out the 2023-24 regular season with a 5-1 home win Thursday night against the Bakersfield Condors… I mean the Edmonton Oilers.
The game was 60 minutes, but it was over in the first 10.
A pair of goals from Valeri Nichushkin, a snipe from Mikko Rantanen and a seeing-eye point shot from Josh Manson was all that was needed for the Avalanche to finish off the regular season with a victory. Playing in his final NHL regular-season game, Zach Parise also lit the lamp midway through the second period to close out the scoring and restore the four-goal lead.
