Avs Beat Bolts as Georgiev and Johansen Shine
Avs netminder quietly goes about putting up one of his best efforts.
That didn’t live up to the hype. But in a good way… for Avalanche fans.
Colorado defeated the visiting Tampa Bay Lighting, 4-1, Monday night at a sold-out Ball Arena.
Making just his second appearance of the year, Andrei Vasilevskiy was between the pipes for the visitors, giving them a big boost of star power in the crease.
It was at the other end of the ice, though, where the goaltending shined. Alexandar Georgiev’s 37-save performance was the difference, allowing the Avs to come away with the three-goal victory in a rematch of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final.
Sure, Ryan Johansen had a pair of goals on the rush with the second proving to be the game winner. Sure, Cale Makar put up yet another multi-point effort including a goal. Sure, Valeri Nichushkin scored again, his ninth in the last 10 games. All of those were great.
