At first, I had to do a double take. The Avs got Ryan Johansen for just Alex Galchenyuk? Well, that’s a steal in itself, I thought. But wait, there’s more: and, the Predators are eating half his cap hit remaining. So, the Avs are getting an $8 million player for just $4 million the next two years. All, in exchange for just a guy, Galchenyuk, who barely played here.
So, let me be the first here to give Chris MacFarland an A+ on this deal. It’s already a big win because….it only cost Alex Galchenyuk and the relative bargain of a $4 million cap hit.
