A Look Back on Postseason Match-Ups with Dallas and Vegas
Avs will look to avenge previous heartbreaks against Stars or Knights
“The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you see one more card
You take it on faith, you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part”
Oh, Tom Petty, you brilliant song-writing son of a gun. Waiting is, in fact, the hardest part… waiting for the next round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to start, at least.
After grounding the Jets in five games, the Colorado Avalanche and its fans (that’s you and me) sit back and wait for the conclusion of the Dallas/Vegas series to find out who we play and where the series will start.
Should Dallas win tonight, Colorado will head to the Lone Star State to begin the second round on the road. If the oft-injured, but punctual-healing Golden Knights force and then win a Game 7, they would come to Denver for Games 1 and 2.
While we wait for either of these VERY likable teams to win their match-up, I thought it might be “fun” to look back at some of the postseason history against both teams. Cause you know… fun.
Neither is great. In fact, some of my least favorite Avalanche memories are playoff losses to Dallas. The record against Vegas isn’t good either, but that 2021 loss was, in my opinion, the final straw in a series of playoff exits that pushed the Avs over the top in 2022. So you can take solace in knowing that this exercise in frustrating memories is meant to motivate and inspire for the glory that can follow heartache.
So let’s take a look back… while we wait.
