With just hours remaining in 2025, you’re likely being inundated with retrospectives from every corner of the internet.

We here at Dater on Hockey pride ourselves on being different. Unique. Zigging when others zag.

But not today.

As the calendar prepares to flip to 2026 — a year we all hope will one day be spoken of in the same breath as the cherished trio of others — we’re not above taking a look back at what has been a year filled with tremendous highs and painful lows.

So, with the help of the always-amazing Hockey-Reference.com and a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, I’ve dug into the numbers from the year that was, with only the St. Louis Blues left on the schedule tonight.

By the Numbers:

89: total games played as of this moment… so 90 by the time the clock strikes midnight.
