Imagine telling someone on Opening Night — October 9, 2024 — that, on the eve of the playoffs, both Gabriel Landeskog and Erik Johnson would be back on the Avalanche roster.

Or that Mikko Rantanen would be on the Dallas Stars, gearing up to face his former team in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

It would’ve sounded impossible. Fiction… like the moon landing. And yet… here we are.

There are countless scenarios surrounding the roster that you could’ve pitched on that October night that would’ve seemed crazy in hindsight. But none more shocking, thrilling, and downright surreal than what the Avalanche made official just a few hours ago:
