A lot of you already know this: I hate preseason hockey. I hate preseason sports of any kind, actually. Some media people seem to think it’s the Super Bowl, or at least that’s how it seems sometimes in this era of niche, small-time media sites coming off months of no hockey.
Even when I first started covering the NHL for a big-time paper, back in 1995, I hated preseason hockey. So, apologies if this isn’t an exhaustive report on how last night’s Avs-Stars preseason tilt at Ball Arena went. No film room sessions, no live chats, no postgame podcasts on the game. Sorry.
But, yes, I did watch a good part of the game on ESPN+ (I gotta tell ya, it was nice with no announcers blabbering nonstop) and I’ll chime in with a few observations:
